Linux Installations and Support

Do you have a slightly old windows computer that seems a bit slow or unstable, or do you want a computer that does the usual things like email, web-browsing, music, video, photos and you don't want to worry about most viruses or other malicious software, then Linux may be an option for you.

Microtron can install Linux (usually Debian or Ubuntu) on a computer sent from anywhere withing New Zealand. Furthermore, Microtron offers a remote service to help further configure your computer once you have it at home or at work. Linux is connected to software repositories with a great variety of downloadable programs, across the Internet. This vetting procedure of software is one of the reasons for Linux achieving a high level of reliability, security and stability. Tutoring on how to use your Linux computer is also offered remotely.

I have customers who have recycled older computers with Linux who say that it performs very well and they feel secure from malicious software. The installations do include a menu option to test for rootkits which are a possible problem which is an extremely rare occurence. It is interesting to note that Linux is used on the International Space Station, primarily because of its stability and immunity to viruses.

This service may be supplied across New Zealand. N.B. Microtron does not take responsibility for treatment of items in transit such as with couriers. However we do ensure correct packaging, which will often be the packaging configuration in which the item was received.
